Orchard Grove Elementary School is one of three elementary schools located within a hub of a dynamic, growing community between the major commuter corridors of routes 70, 15 and 270. Our community boasts a most diverse population which brings unique opportunities for our children and their families. Families from a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicities and neighborhoods along with our school staff “work together to create strong thinkers, caring hearts and healthy bodies.”
Children and staff arrive each and every day eager to work toward goals outlined in our Action Plan For Continued Student Growth. The OGES plan and school program currently focuses on building readers, writers, problem solvers along with an understanding of physical, life and social sciences. To that end, our staff works within a professional development framework to learn and grow in their craft and pedagogies. Offering daily instruction in all content areas along with the fine arts and physical education, our top notch staff plans for instruction that promotes mastery of the curriculum.
In addition to developing ourselves as strong thinkers, all members of our learning community are encouraged to build a “caring heart.” Caring hearts are exemplified as members demonstrate the six pillars of character outlined in the Character Counts program: caring, citizenship, fairness, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness. Children are also expected to follow our school rules and become problem solvers as they reach resolutions in a peaceful and kind manner.
An active and dynamic Parent Teacher Association (PTA) supports our school program and offers opportunities for parent and community involvement. Our PTA plans for numerous family events and generously supports instruction via a volunteer program, funding for field trips, cultural arts programs and supplies. As a result of community collaboration and the energy and efforts extended by students, staff, parents and community members, OGES is a school where we work and learn together.
