GREEN VALLEY ELEMENTARY provides a well-rounded education. It is a community school where students, staff and parents value education and have formed a coalition to provide a positive environment for learning. This coalition is so strong that we were recently certified as a National PTA School of Excellence for Family Involvement. In addition, we recently were recognized as a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Exemplar School by the Maryland State Department of Education.

A quality school always strives for continuous improvement. Our leadership team of administrators, staff and parents guides Green Valley’s academic program with a strong commitment to fostering positive attitudes and providing resources necessary for teachers to challenge each child to excel.

"Teach, Believe, Achieve!" is the Green Valley motto, and our school has a reputation for providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our School Improvement Plan’s core focus is to increase student achievement.

Assets that contribute to our success include an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and volunteer corps that annually contribute more than 7,500 hours, an up-to-date computer lab and multiple computers in each classroom, reading and writing intervention programs, special services for students with individualized education plans, a partnership with Hood College to promote mentoring of beginning teachers and increase reading achievement, and dedicated teachers working to provide everything necessary for our youngsters to be successful.

We strive to make our school a happy and productive place to work and learn. You are invited to stop in to visit.
