The entire Oakdale High School staff joins me in welcoming students and their families.
In August 2010 we opened our doors to freshmen and sophomores as the new and official site of OHS and home of the Bears! Next August saw the addition of a junior class and brought enrollment to about 900. The transition to the full complement of four high school grades was completed in August 2012, and the first commencement took place that following spring.
OHS operates on a five-period, semesterized block schedule arranged to provide additional time for student enrichment. We encourage students to take advantage of the many educational opportunities presented by this bonus interval in the daily schedule.
Experience tells us that when the school is working in concert with parents and guardians to assure an appropriate and effective educational program for each student, student achievement improves. We encourage families to become involved in their children's education. Participation can be as informal as daily conversations with your child about what is taking place at school to a more formal role in parent support groups such as PTA, Boosters and more. The important thing is that staff, students and families all share a commitment to student success.
We invite families to visit OHS and to communicate questions or concerns in reference to an individual class or staff member directly to that person. We believe that direct communication fosters effective communication and understanding.
