Welcome to Our School
The original LINGANORE HIGH SCHOOL opened in 1962 to meet the academic needs of what was then an agrarian community in the eastern portion of Frederick County, Maryland. In August 2008, LHS students and staff relocated to the just-built Oakdale High School, which will be our interim home until the August 2010 opening of our newly constructed LHS facility on our original campus.

Serving the largest geographical area in the county, we serve many small residential communities, including New Market, Mt. Airy and Libertytown.

Our school provides a cohesive sense of community. Over the years we continue to build a strong tradition of academic achievement and success, earning the pride of the greater Lancer community and designations as both a Maryland and National Blue Ribbon School.

The dedicated and highly skilled LHS staff takes great pride in our students’ accomplishments in the academic, performing arts and athletic arenas. Our teachers are committed to professional learning communities in which student assessment data is closely monitored and analyzed to improve classroom instruction.

We look forward to continuing work together as a Lancer family so that our mission, “Working Together, Providing Opportunities for Excellence,” is a reality for the entire LHS community.
