Welcome to Our School
WALKERSVILLE ELEMENTARY is one of three elementary schools in the Walkersville feeder area serving students in grades 1-5. Leo the Lion, our school mascot, maintains a watchful eye on each lion cub at WES, “Where Everyone Succeeds through Teaching for Quality Learning for All!”

Administration, faculty, staff and parents of WES are committed to providing excellence in education. This means that we work together to create a school culture that nourishes reflection and collaborative inquiry, developing the capacity to make important decisions together. We make continuous improvement and student achievement our primary focus and build partnerships and community support.

Believing that education is the key to making dreams come true, we provide a challenging academic program for students based on their needs, and support all students in their learning. We hold high expectations for each student and demonstrate our commitment, emphasizing dedicated work ethics, character education, participation and volunteerism.

Our kindergarten students are currently placed at Glade Elementary School, our sister school. They will be returning to WES when our new addition is opened in August 2010.

Our community of learners includes 57 faculty and staff members and about 65 parent volunteers and 250 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members. We accept the “collective responsibility” for each WES student and welcome you to the Home of Lion Pride!
