Learning
begins at home. Parents are a
child's first teacher. It‘s only
natural for parents to be their
child’s leading advocate. Students
achieve more when schools and parents work together.
To this end, parents are seen
as vital partners in their child's education by providing support and
sending a positive message about the importance of education. Engaging and working with a child’s school
is a vital component of providing children with an excellent education,
and a bright future. Parent teacher
associations are groups open to parents and teachers. Some Frederick County schools offer PTSAs – parent, teacher, student
associations. Both groups aim
to foster better relationships with schools, and to establish a partnership
that encourages schools to listen to parental concerns. They also provide an opportunity for parents
to see what they can do to help the school community and improve their
child’s classroom experience. PTAs
do not necessarily represent the views of all parents, but they do provide
an excellent forum for communication and a base for a valuable partnership
between parents and schools. Get
involved! Contact a school for more information. http://www.frederickpta.org/ (local) http://www.mdpta.org/ (state) http://www.pta.org/ (national) |
