Dr. Linda D. Burgee

Born in Frederick, Maryland, Dr. Linda Burgee graduated from Linganore High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Towson University, Master of Science degree in elementary curriculum and instruction from Hood College, and Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Dr. Burgee began her career with Frederick County Public Schools in 1976. She has taught elementary and middle school students, was assistant principal two years and principal for seven. In addition, Dr. Burgee served as elementary summer school principal two years. In 1997, she was appointed instructional director of elementary schools, a position she held 6 years, becoming associate superintendent (elementary) in December 2003. The Board of Education appointed Dr. Burgee Superintendent in June 2004.

Dr. Burgee is a member of the Frederick Alliance for Education, the Committee for Frederick, and the Frederick Rotary Club. She has been an adjunct professor at the Hood College graduate school, serves on the Frederick county Council of PTA's executive board and is a member of the Washington Area School Study Council, as well as several national organizations.

Dr. Burgee believes that every student deserves a "first class" education, and takes great pride in the many accomplishments of the students and staff of Frederick County Public Schools.
