Eligibility

Employees/Retirees:

All active regular employees scheduled to work more than 17.5 hours per week are eligible for insurance benefits. Retirees who are eligible for retirement benefits under the Maryland State Retirement or Pension Systems may elect to continue medical, dental and life insurance coverage.

Dependents:

In addition to a legal spouse, dependents include:

• An unmarried child under the age of 19; between the ages of 19 to 23 if full time college student
• A legally adopted child, a child who has been placed with you for adoption, or one for whom you have legal guardianship
• A legally recognized stepchild or foster child who depends on you for support
• A child until age 23 who depends on you for support due to a handicap or disability that occurred prior to age 23
